The Next : Local VC LAN, in the Vaal will be hosted on the 14th August 2010 Saturday . Take note : our venue is hosted at "Sancta Maria Primary School" in their Hall. Get the directions to the LAN by clicking on the Venue MAP. The Venue will host up to 60/pc's on a Gigabyte network at R50 each and no more. Registering yourself a spot on this site, will only secure your self an entry. Keep in mind every 5th Gamer registered in a friends group gets him/herself in for free.
The LAN Rules : The LAN starts at 9:00am and shuts down at 23:30pm. No Multiplugs Allowed, NOTE : This event has become a --- non alcohol --- event.
Temperature : Although summer is on its way, we still expect the temperature to cool off into the night, so its an idea to bring something warm.
Comps : We expect to see a few eagar competitors, we hope the interest is there, hosting a COD 5 Tournament would be a great idea.
Local Servers : Will be made available : Http://VCWEB - The News Portal with Games, Patch's, and more - DC Server, COD 4 - Quake 3 server. CSS team to supply own server for free play and comps.
Most Important : No hating your oppenent for taking you out with a pistol, no silly cursing, have loads of fun, the LAN is here for you. If you experience issues with setup etc other than your abnormal, itching, fungal growth, we just may be able to assist you. Oh ye, check the "VC Fireboard Forums" out, we added in a few things including "Swop Shop".
What were doing this month and on :
The Vaal SPCA : is in serious need of assistance. This reach out goes out to our gamers to bring with at least one can / bag of food, (more would be awesome), old blankets etc, bowls or anything else you can think of. This will most certainly assist their non provit organisation. Visit SPCA on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=40869490644&v=wall#!/group.php?gid=40869490644&v=info , Thank you to the one gamer who brough that BIG bag of food, we dont expect to go all out and get the best, like this guy, but even something small works too.
Are you ready for SA's biggest LANNING event of the year : rAge 2010 ? We have have worked though some general surprises you might run into, so read up, this will prevent you from landing into sticky situations. Will be updated regulary, come back again for updates.
Tickets were on Sale at Computicket from 1-3rd August 2010 - Tickets were sold out ... on yes the first day. Hard luck to those that didnt make it.
Get the directions to the Dome and punch them in your GP and stuff " here ". Also get the floor Domes Floor plan, this could help you out - " here "
We suggest getting to know the area arround the Dome, thus for instances like, the Mall or Resturant for a fresh healthy breakfast / Lunch/ Supper, this always keeps your mental and physical self going for longer. Even the Petrol station, to add in an extra petrol, to fetch a budy or two for the day entrance.
When you arrive, have you have your RIG, Screen, and Ticket Ready. We do not suggest going back for it. Please remember that when you get your settled, apply your supplied TAG numbers to your screens, pc, notebook, headphones etc, this will assist with theft control. If you have purchased something at one of the exhibitors, please retain the Cash slip, or visit Admin for an extra TAG. Keep in mind after 10pm, the Rule applies, your pc will not be allowed to exit the dome. (you may take your keyboard, mouse, headphones). Hang on to your TAG / CARD no# for Dome Exist with your goodies, we are not in the mood for listening to your Parents attempting to explain why they are in hurry, there is no excuse for stupidity.
Start preping your Mega Gaming RIG .
Although we have a Local WEB Server at rAge ( HTTP://VCWEB ) with some drivers and apps we suggest : Making sure you have a fresh Windows installation done and tested with latest Microsoft patch's installed,
All your drivers installed
A Super up to date Antivirus Package, your rig scanned and virus's removed
, A firewall might be good idea, but truly suggest knowing how it works before you get to the LAN. - This could save the both of us some time trying to figger out why your ready to scream because you cannot join a multi-player game because of some virus attach. Bring with you, 2 copies of Windows with all your drivers and applications, just incase you need to reinstall.
Know exactly how file sharing works - we suggest simply just not doing it, this creates the option for PC LEACHING, LAG, LAN LAG, and Virus Outbrakes, and major headaches that no pain killer can help - A Controlled DC server will be available. Keep in mind External Devices - Incl Memory Keys are prime catch for spreading Virus's. Again make sure your AntiVirus Package is up to date.
Get to know how Networking (TCP/IP), Works and where to put your assigned IP Address's in - Incorrect entered ip address's will prevent you from connecting to the rest of the LAN. Also we want to eliminate gamers moaning "
my IP Address has been taken". Remember the Bugs of TCPIP V6 last rAge, LAN LAG, Games not Connecting, Although we have taken precaution this year to resolve this issue, find out exactly were to disable TCPIP/V6 on Windows Vista / 7, and disable it. This will eliminate problems connecting to other various networked pc's/servers.
Make Sure you have your RED Plug Power Cable (NOTICE THE FLAT EARTH PIN?) with a dual supply point to power your gaming rig and and large monitor. We do NOT suggest bringing your 2 Pin Plugs, or extra multi adaptors, unless you wish to donate them, we have some private instutions in mind, who will appriciate these collections. 1x 3pin 220v multi plug with 5 sockets to suppl
y 2 gamers, is supplied already. Understand we set these rules to follow Approved Large Power regulations, for your gaming safety. Kindly keep in mind that if you bring a white plug and decide it might fit, by JAMMING it in... we will be passing to check, make sure you have R170 handy.. we will ensure your purchase is well taken care off.
Although we will be posting General self helps on the local web site http://vcweb, its an idea to get to know the VC Team, we are willing to assist, but we suggest getting the right guy for the right job.
Bring wads of cash, always handy if you need to replace a faulty keybard, mouse, network card, power supply, and buy some refreshments during the event.
We have not catered for your sleeping arrangements in the dome, but there will be a resting area if you feel you think better with your eyes closed.
